Newark 20k Date change!!!!

Postby suzanne » Mon Feb 16, 2009 12:00 pm

Hi everyone,

it seems the Newark Distance Classic was moved from march 8th to the 29th. I just got the application in the mail with march 8th printed on it, but Compuscore lists the date change.

Does this mean there's a group run on the 8th? Maybe River Rd if not? Suzanne
Ps: is that race now on same weekend as the Wurstboro 30k??

We will be doing Celebrate Life as well, I've run around those lakes quite a bit. And, yes, the Wurtsboro Mountain 30K is Sat 3/28, so you can get home that afternoon and get plenty of rest for the Newark 20K the following day. Definitely different scenery in Wurtsboro.

Also, for the record, if you are into the points race....The freehold 10 miler is not just not a championship, 700 point race this year, ut doesn't even participate in the Grand Prix this year....Bummer, it was going to be one of my Cat III races.

Seems like in these recession times race officials would do everything they could to keep race entries to a maximum --- Freehold not doing USATF just makes no sense. Guess they don't want them Northerners clogging up the streets in the morning.

Ocean Drive Marathon and 10 Mile Race

Postby suzanne » Thu Feb 19, 2009 8:44 pm

On the other hand, the Ocean Drive Marathon and 10 Miler are now 500 point races this year. If you are after points, might be a good one. Not me. Suzanne

Susan ran the 10 Miler last year and I ran the full marathon as a long training run. One of the most scenic marathons I've done and nice post race party. Wind velocity and direction is make or break however
