Caldwell College 5k Run/Walk for Autism

Postby MarcusofMorristown » Tue Oct 20, 2009 4:48 pm

Hello everyone,
Hope all is well with you. I wanted to update you all on the status of our race. We are always looking for volunteers and feedback as this is our first time organizing an event like this. Please visit the website to get some information about the 5k run on April 11th. It's going to take place on the Caldwell College campus, in Caldwell, NJ.
Thanks for your support and please let me know if you would like additional information or would like to volunteer. My e-mail is MLozanoGR@Caldwell.edu

I may happen to be up in NJ that weekend since I have the previous week off for spring break in my county (VA). I am now a teacher of Autism and from first hand experience, it is such a challenging thing for both the students I work with and for myself as the teacher. I'll definitely look forward to this race and anything I can do to help out with this cause.

April is long time away, but barring any conflict, I'm in.

Did someone already mark the course through Essex Fells with tape on the road (arrows & Mile mark at Renselaer/Beechwood intersection)?

Hey Andy. We were actually trying to map the course last night, but we're having some difficulties. That must be a different race that has been marked off already. We had a nice course planned, but unfortunately there are some speed bumps since it goes through the College campus. I definitely could use some help from anyone who lives near Caldwell to map out the course so we can try to get it certified as soon as possible.
Thanks!

I believe Jim and I tied for first in this race a few years ago, after doing a 13 mile warm-up! I also believe we missed a turn and ran 2.9 miles, which may explain our victory. Beware!

Hey Greg, this is actually a new course designed for this race. It's in the same area as the Caldwell race that you ran in 2006. I think that was the last year that race happened. If you check out the the website www.caldwellcollege5krun.com, or the course search from the USATF site, you can check out the map. It's a pretty simple course and I'm sure there will be plenty of volunteers to make sure you don't miss any turns this time. Good luck!

Marcus

A very well run race, easy to see a lot of effort went into it

SF club members were treated like royality, we appreciate it

Free pasta dinner the night before was a nice touch

Will,
Thanks for the feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed our event. We couldn't have done it without Dean, Andy, and the rest of the Sneaker Factory team for their ongoing support!
