Fall marathon prediction contest (NYC and Philadelphia)

Postby Chachi » Mon Nov 01, 2010 9:05 pm

This is a last minute Fall Marathon pool. This is strictly fun and all are encouraged to participate. (I will throw in two beer's and a pizza slice to the winner on a Tuesday if you show up! - Chachi)

Pick marathon times for any 5 people. The difference in the actual CHIP (not gun as previously stated) time and your guess will be calculated as a percentage of the actual time. This gives more of a fair playing field to the fast and slow runners. Top 4 times count (drop the lowest.) Winner gets bragging rights. Please post your picks here on the forum or send me a private message. All picks need to be in by Saturday November 6th 11:59 PM EST for NYC marathoners and the Philadelphia marathoners need to be in by Novemver 20 11:59 PM EST. You may pick yourself, but this must be posted for all to see. NYC hasn?t made a list of all the SF runners. Once this list is posted, I will add names or when people let me know who I?ve missed.

You may pick some NYC marathoners and some Philadelphia marathoners if you want. But, remember the appropriate deadline for each one.

Good luck to all.

Note: You can?t pick DNS or DNF. If a person DNF's, they will just be given a number of 50% for that person.) If I missed anyone, please post or let me know.

NYC marathon:
Peter Allen
Eric Prince
John Ploeg ? 1st marathon
Mark Nyhan
John Knepper
Karl Leitz (Note he is doubling up both marathons so please specify which marathon or Philly will be assumed)
Brian Walsh
James Weinberg (My brother-in-law) ? 1st marathon
Thomas Lamanna
Tom Hand
Dick Helmer
Kim Helmer
Laura Manofsky (Olesky)
Patrick Stewart

Because you asked for it, you may also pick these celebrities (my guesses are next to each one):

Bobby Flay ? Iron Chef ? 4:11:25
Veronica Webb ? Supermodel - 4:55:59
Ethan Zohn ? Survivor: Africa winner and cancer survivor ? 4:23:45
Jared Fogle ? ?Subway Guy? ? 5:10:15
Justin Gimelstob ? Former tennis player ? 4:40:40
AL Roker ? weatherman ? 6:25:55
Edison Pena - Chilean Miner - 5:55:55

Philadelphia marathon:
Jim Grizzetti (Out due to hamstring issue 11/15/10*****)
Jocelyn Grizetti ? Iffy as competing in National tri in Clearwater the week before
Barry Lass - Iffy but will race despite competing in National tri in Clearwater the week before
Rocco Della Serra
Tony Kharitonov
Kevine Devine
Bill Zalin
Karl Leitz (Note he is doubling up both marathons so please specify which marathon or Philly will be assumed)

Well since all the results are in, I did a quick calculation. If my math is correct it looks like Rocco is our Big winner followed by Kevin, a close 3rd is Barry and next is chachi.
I based everything on time not percentage so I may be wrong :)
